Audubon Partners
We applaud the many organizations and individuals who are helping Audubon’s efforts to rescue, rehabilitate and release endangered sea turtles and marine mammals affected by the April 20 Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
Their creativity and generosity are making it possible for Audubon and the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program (LMMSTRP) to effectively care for animals in the oil spill’s path.
- Fleurty Girl
Lauren Thom, creator of this New Orleans-inspired collection of original shirt designs, produced a limited edition "Rescue Me" sea turtle t-shirt. Net proceeds from the sales of these popular tees were donated to LMMSTRP.
Sandy Beanie Boo™ by Ty®
Sandy, a new Ty® Beanie Boo™ was sold exclusively through Audubon Nature Institute. 100% of Ty’s profits from the original purchase of this product was donated to Audubon Nature Institute in support of the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program.
- The New Orleans Saints
Audubon Nature Institute received a sizeable donation from the New Orleans Saints’s Super Bowl XLIV Championship Ring raffle held to benefit those affected by the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Audubon is grateful for The New Orleans Saints’s support of LMMSTRP and our efforts in protecting endangered wildlife for generations to come.
- Build-a-Bear Workshop®
Build-a-Bear offered guests in stores across the country the opportunity to add $1 to their purchase (June 8 and June 27, 2010).
- Pepsi Beverage Company/The Brees Dream Foundation
Pepsi Beverages Company, the local Pepsi bottler for South Louisiana, announced that in conjunction with the Brees Dream Foundation, would assist Audubon Nature Institute in their diligent efforts to care for oiled sea turtles and marine mammals. The Brees Dream Foundation is matching a $25,000 Pepsi contribution, to provide $50,000 in total support to Audubon Nature Institute and the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program.
- Southern Candymakers
Through sales of a limited edition Gulf Coast Wildlife Rescue gift box, Southern Candymakers raised more than $1,800 for LMMSTRP.
- Kalencom/Hadaki
Local lifestyle company, Kalencom, best known for its eco-friendly diaper bags and accessories division Hadaki, donated a percentage of its sales during the month of June 2010.
- Xeko
In partnership with the Association of Zoo and Aquariums, gaming company Xeko developed the Sea Turtle GoodQuest game. Winning scores contributed to a collective goal resulting in a donation from Xeko.
- Underwater Adventures (Mall of America)
Underwater Adventures offered customers a chance to receive $5 off of their admission fee by donating supplies to LMMSTRP. The first shipment of supplies has already arrived and the second shipment is on its way. Their efforts resulted in two huge shipments of supplies, including toothbrushes and towels.
- Jones Lang LaSalle
Jones Lang LaSalle coordinated a fundraiser at their New Orleans, LA and Houston, TX office buildings raising over $20,000. Their dedication and hard work really paid off and will greatly benefit LMMSTRP.
- KidsLoveTheGulf.org
At 11 years old, Rory McCracken, of KidsLoveTheGulf.org, is a true entrepreneur successfully raising $5,000 for LMMSTRP by selling t-shirts and wristbands on his very creative website.
- Macy's
Macy's offered a special $5 shopping card to shoppers at the Acadania, Cortana, Esplanade, Lakeside, Mall of Louisiana and Parkdale stores in support of Audubon’s efforts in rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles and marine mammals affected by the Oil Spill. Macy’s donated 100% of every $5 shopping card purchased and match up to $20,000 to benefit LMMSTRP.
- Petite Rouge
Proceeds from opening weekend of JPAS's PETITE ROUGE: A CAJUN RED RIDING HOOD to support the rescue and recovery of marine mammals and sea turtles affected by the Oil Spill. This family-friendly musical is on stage at the Westwego Performing Arts Theatre Sept 17-October 3.
- Philadelphia Insurance Companies
The Philadelphia Insurance Company and their employees raised over $5,000 for LMMSTRP by offering a "Jean Day" at work. Employees paid $1 to wear jeans, which was generously matched by the company.
- Academy of the Sacred Heart
Fourth grade students from Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans donated over $1,000 to help rescue and rehabilitate sea turtles and marine mammals.
- Milan Lounge Neighborhood Golf Tournament
A special thanks to the patrons and neighbors of the Milan Lounge who hosted a Golf Tournament and raffle which raised over $5,000 for LMMSTRP.
LemonAid for the Gulf
When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Mark and Lizette Terrillion from Alexandria, Louisiana took that phrase to heart and raised more than $6,000 in t-shirt sales to support Audubon’s Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program.
- Artist ACT NOW held a fundraiser and art auction on Friday, July 30, 2010 and raised $3,500 to support LMMSTRP. The event was coordinated by a group of local artists determined to assist with the Gulf Oil Spill recovery efforts.
- Windsor Court Hotel
Windsor Court Hotel in Downtown New Orleans offered guests the Louisiana Wildlife Package in support of LMMSTRP, which included a $50 donation in the package price.
- Instant Ocean
National sea salt mix company, Instant Ocean, supports LMMSTRP through a generous donation of products as well as raising awareness about Audubon’s role in rescuing and rehabilitating sea turtles and marine mammals affected by the Gulf oil spill.
- Capstone Publishing
Author Christine A. Caputo wrote a children’s book entitled Oil Spills published by Capstone Publishers to support the Gulf Coast in the aftermath of the Oil Spill. Proceeds from book sales were donated to Audubon and we are thankful for their support!
- NALCO Foundation
Special thanks to the Nalco Foundation who granted funding for a LMMSTRP Coordinator and Vet Technician salaries and benefits to continue their amazing work.
- Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurants from across the country donated 2 cents per entrée during the month of July to raise funds for LMMSTRP. Many Bubba Gump locations also held fundraisers to raise additional funds to help the sea turtles.
- Stage Stores
Stage Stores across the country raised money to support LMMSTRP’s efforts following the Oil Spill. The stores managed to raise more than $12,000.
- The Ocean Foundation
In support of Audubon’s coastal and marine wildlife efforts, the Ocean Foundation donated $1,500 through their Gulf Restoration Fund.
- Gulf Wildlife Rescue Rock & Run
On September 18, 2010, the North Cyprus Fitness Center of Hammond hosted the Gulf Wildlife Rescue Rock & Run, raising nearly $4,000 for LMMSTRP.
- Save the Turtles, Inc.
Save the Turtles, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting sea turtles, donated $3,500 to aid LMMSTRP in the efforts of saving sea turtles and marine wildlife affected by the Oil Spill.
- Move Sales, Inc./ Realtor.com
While in New Orleans for a convention, Move Sales, Inc. donated $5,000 to help with the sea turtle and marine mammal rehabilitation efforts.
- The Brigham Galleries
The Brigham Galleries held an online art auction in December 2010 to benefit LMMSTRP. Generous artists donated half of their proceeds!
- Our friends at zoos and aquariums across the country have provided outstanding support to LMMSTRP, including the South Carolina Aquarium, Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island, Virginia Aquarium and Tennessee Aquarium.
