It’s only the beginning of summer and I am certainly feeling the heat. I’m at the point where when I go outside it’s about survival in the humidity. I pack my bag like I’ll be trekking through the desert, and really I’m only walking to my car. I can’t forget the water bottle, the insect repellant, the wipes and the backup water bottle. I know some may ask if all this is really necessary? My husband questions me and even my 3 year old inquisitively watches my routine. She sometimes even asks “Mommie what’s taking so long?” I think, what is taking so long, but then I remember I have to get an extra outfit for my 2 year old, because well, he’s a 2 year old. Now with all of this I suppose we’re ready to head to the car. These really are all very necessary items to bring if you’re going out in this summer heat. And wouldn’t you like to test out your sizzling summer survival skills? Yes, well just as you’d expect Audubon Nature Institute has Fourth of July activities for the whole family to put you to the test.

If you still need to plan your 4th of July evening, put Go Fourth on the River at the top of your list! After you’ve visited the Aquarium and Insectarium kick off your shoes, get your blanket lay back and relax for the fireworks show at 9pm in Woldenberg Riverfront Park. It’ll be an amazing show with two dueling barges launching fireworks into the sky. You can see the display of fireworks all through the city but the best place is right by the Aquarium in Woldenberg Park. It’s another fun filled holiday weekend at Audubon, Happy Independence Day!
