Aquarium birthday kisses

For this Labor Day weekend join us for the 20thbirthday celebration of Audubon Aquarium of the Americas! It’s hot outside so come join us inside the Aquarium for all the birthday fish-tivities. We’ve got three days full of fun for your family. With that much going on, here’s what you need to know. This Saturday we’re going to kick off our birthday weekend with the Algiers Brass Band performing outside the Aquarium beginning at 11 AM. Make a plan to arrive early to be one of the first 1000 people to receive a commemorative gift with admission. We’ll have a gift each day over the weekend for the first 1000 people, how great is that? It’s our birthday but we’re giving you, our visitors gifts! Smooches! Also check out the photo gallery we’ll have in the Pisces Room. On display will be all the entries in the Fins and Grins photo contest. We’ve had some amazing photographs sent to us. These pictures have been taken by   visitors throughout the Aquarium’s 20 year history and are quite impressive. Make sure to plan on watching the African Dance & Drum presentation by Fisher and Woodmere Elementary schools. This group performance is something to see. Also in the Pisces Room, we’ll have an art cart activity and balloon artists will be on hand creating all sorts of balloon animals. As a special treat for the little ones, we’ll have Curious George in the Pisces Room to meet and greet guests from 10:30am until 3pm on Saturday and Monday. Joining Curious George on Saturday will also be that lovable rodent Boudreaux the New Orleans Zephyrs mascot. And on Monday, Hugo of the New Orleans Hornets will meet and greet guests. Keep reading there’s more! Everyday this weekend at the Aquarium we’ll have fishy face painting from 1pm-5pm and a scavenger hunt activity to challenge your detective skills. For our big Monday Labor Day opening, we’ll have a nine layer Aquarium birthday cake on display! When you come in to check out the cake grab a party hat and sing a happy birthday tune! That morning we’ll announce the winners of the Fins and Grins photo contest. And stay right there because, while they last, you can have an aquarium cupcake! Delish! If you haven’t heard the story Petite Rouge: The Cajun Red Riding Hood, stick around, they’ll having readings at 1pm and 2:45pm. If you haven’t made your weekend plans, plan now on joining us at Audubon Aquarium of the America’s 20thbirthday to celebrate Double Decades of Discoveries!
