I’ve hit the big three ‘O
It’s a new year and I’ve just realized that in my short time as an Audubon blogger I am on my thirtieth blog! I must say this is a great milestone for me. I never thought that I’d be blogging and especially for such a great place like Audubon Nature Institute. In these first seven days of the New Year I decided to take a look back at some of the blogs I’ve written this past year. I know I’ve said it before but c’mon looking back you have to agree there is always something to do somewhere around Audubon. In my very first blog “And the Answer is” I loved telling the story of my daughter and her inquisitiveness. She never ceases to amaze me with the ideas and thoughts she has. After completing that initial blog I felt like this would be a beautiful thing. I don’t just get to work at a cool place I also get to tell stories about how cool it actually is! For me the very next blog was one of my favorites because I was extremely excited about being able to talk about how much we love our Audubon members and the best member event ever, that’s right… ZOObilation! The fast pace of fitting everything in for the member event had me in an excited frenzy! The schedule was packed and it was a ready, set, go, race to fit everything in! Did you win? We sure did, ZOObilation would not exist without our members, thank you all again! Your continued support is what keeps us going. With your support we were able to celebrate another milestone at Audubon. This past year our Audubon Aquarium of the Americas had its big 20th year birthday celebration! We had birthday cake, storytelling, balloons, face painting and even celebrities Curious George and Hugo the Hornet! Our guest weren’t left empty handed either, over the birthday weekend gift bags and smooches were given out and we’re glad everyone came to celebrate. Smooch -- there’s another one for you! We’re a party loving place so we had a few parties and festivals last year. Okay, well maybe we had a little more than a few. Another one of my faves is Boo at the Zoo. I know many people like Halloween and this past Boo at the Zoo was such a wonderful one. I loved seeing all the little goblins and ghouls running around the zoo. It was a BOO-tiful night! With a jam packed fall calendar of events and festivals going on, as we came upon the end of the year we had some awesome deals for visitors, a great new IMAX holiday movie, and we even shed a tear singing Auld Lang Syne. So far this blogging journey has been great. We have tons of activities and new exhibits opening this year and I can’t wait to share all the exciting events, specials and hot deals with all of our Friends of Audubon. I hope you will continue on this journey with me. Happy New Year!
