A Decade of Soul
This year marks our 10 year anniversary of Soul Fest! It’s been an amazing festival to have at Audubon Zoo and every year it gets better and better. So of course you know for our 10thyear it will be sure to please all of our visitors. Once again we will have a great array of food vendors on site cooking up flavorful New Orleans Creole dishes. Bring your appetite when you come because you’ll want to try more than just one. Along with the delicious foods we will also have some spicy musical guests performing. This year will be full of hot local musical talent, including Michael “Soulman” Baptiste, Gina Brown - who is one of my favorite local singers to watch- and 2013 Grammy Award®nominee Luke James! I am sure he’ll sing his hit song “I Want You” that was nominated for a Grammy®this year. Another entertainment highlight will be step show and Mardi Gras Indians. If you’ve never seen a step show, you’ll want to see it this year at Soul Fest. And, of course, I can’t forget about the Indians. They are so much of our New Orleans culture. What is a festival without them!? On Sunday, we’ll be challenging all of you to join us in making the largest Soul Train line at the Zoo! As part of the 10 year anniversary we plan on making a special second line to commemorate the occasion. Now don’t chicken out on us, we want to see you scootin, shimmying and doing a jive to all the Soul Fest sounds of the day. Make your plans today to come out and get some sooouuuul at Soul Fest. We’re gonna see you there!
