It's Earth Fest!
Festival season is now in full swing. We’ve been having such a good time hanging out at Audubon Zoo with all our events and we’re going to do it all again this weekend for M’Boom and then next weekend for Earth Fest ! As part of the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra’s spring hometown concert series, the Jason Marsalis Percussion Ensemble will be playing a tribute to Max Roach’s M’Boom here at Audubon Zoo this Saturday from 12pm to 2pm. The concert will be played by an all percussion band using instruments. It’s going to be a thrilling sound to hear. You’ll want to be a part of this so make sure to join us Saturday. Our next festival coming up is Earth Fest and this year we have all kinds of great activities for families. Earth Fest is on Saturday, March 16th and get ready to shout Yo GABBA GABBAA and cheer for Brobee who will be here throughout the day. Your tots also know another one of the characters that will be here for the festival, it’s Peppa Pig! She will be on site to meet and greet kids out in the festival area. Once you’ve got a chance to meet with Brobee and Peppa Pig, go around and check out what else we’ll have happening at the zoo. We’ve got an Earth Quest game that you’ll kids will have a ball with and win prizes. You’ll have to get the questions from our exhibitors in the festival area and put your thinking caps on so you can win a prize. You’ll be dancing around doing your Quest game because the music will be jamming on the Capital One stage. We’ve got the Ronald McDonald House talent showcase winners, the Vieux Carre’ band and the 61 South Band all performing. We’re going to have great food by local vendors and handmade crafts available for purchase. Our purpose for Earth Fest is to get everyone on board with going green and we’re going to help you to get the knowledge to do it! It’s going to take all of us to help sustain our environment. A great way you can start is by bringing in your unwanted Mardi Gras beads. If you bring in a dozen beads during Earth Fest you’ll get a discount on admission to the zoo! It’s festival fun time around Audubon, come out and join us!
