Camp General Information

For summer camp, New Orleans offers a number of great options. With so many camps to choose from, why not consider one that offers the best of New Orleans as well as years of outstanding service in the community? Camp at Audubon Zoo is for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade.

During the morning we take advantage of the cooler temperatures and participate in more outdoor activities such as hiking through the zoo and playing at Monkey Hill. In the afternoons we spend more time participating in indoor activities. All in all a great day at summer camp New Orleans kids are sure to enjoy!

Due to the amount of campers and the complexity of group scheduling we cannot process requests for children to be placed in same groups. Campers are placed in groups based on birthdates.

  • Snacks are provided for all campers.
  • All campers must bring a bag lunch that does not need refrigeration or heating.
  • Children should not bring money, valuables or toys, unless specified by the camp counselor.
  • All campers must bring a water bottle each day of camp.
  • Campers are provided one t-shirt per week of camp purchased.
  • Additional t-shirts can be purchased at the Open House or on the Monday of each camp week.
  • Closed-toed shoes are required.
  • Camper contact with animals is limited and supervised.
  • Summer Camp Open House is May 30, 10 am-12 pm

Audubon Zoo is not equipped to accommodate children with extreme special needs. Please make us aware of any special needs your child may have so that we can assess if our program is appropriate for the child.

  • Arrival and Pick-up Unless registered for the before-camp program, children may be dropped off no earlier that 8:50 am. At no time can any child be left unattended. Unless registered for the after-care program, children must be picked up promptly after the camp day ends at 3:00 pm. Any child not picked up by 3:15 pm will be placed in after-care and the parents charged $10.00.
