Director of Merchandise Operations
Manage gift shops to include daily operations, inventory control, merchandising, cash handling and staff management to generate sales, maximize profit and provide excellent customer service.
Duties:
- Plan and implement customer service strategies for all gift shop staff to ensure a quality guest experience.
- Work closely with buyers, communicating customer feedback and needs.
- Ensure that quality employees are hired and that they receive proper orientation and training in all aspects of customer service, store operations, POS training and cash handling.
- Encourage and promote incentive programs for staff.
- Monitor staffing levels to provide optimum customer service.
- Attend department head meetings and communicate all information regarding ANI’s operations, upcoming projects, and strategic plan to store managers and all staff so that staff can answer guests’ questions.
- Merchandising new product and rotation of existing merchandise to keep the stores fresh.
- Complete employee performance appraisals, in conjunction with store managers and supervisors, with a special focus on customer service.
- Support other departments (internal customers) through research and acquisition of products as required.
Experience: Minimum five years in Retail Management with focus on operations and merchandising.
Education: High school diploma required; Bachelors preferred.
Software Requirements: proficiency in POS systems, Microsoft Office programs, inventory control programs
