Audubon Zoo's Education Department offers teachers great Life Science Resources:

  • Learning Kits for teachersEducational DVDs and Biofacts available for check out in our Betty Wisdom Resource Room.  Please email the Zoo Education Department or call (504) 212-5378. 
     
  • Scope on a Rope, a hand-held microscope that plugs into a television, is also available for teachers. If interested in this unique educational tool, please email the Aquarium Education Department or call (504) 378-2675. 
     
  • Harry's Big Adventure is a great resource for teaching about insects. Peruse the Educator Center and make the world of insects come to life for your students—either in your classroom or at our traveling exhibit.

 

Interested in renting a meeting room?

Audubon offers many meeting spaces for teachers, non-profit organization, and for-profit groups that do not need Catering/Conference Services. A special price is available for teachers and non-profit organizations who are looking for a place to host a meeting or conference. Reserve a room today!

     
  • Nims Community Center
    The Nims Community Center can accomodate a group of up to 40 people. It is located to the right of the Audubon Zoo front entrance near the John James Audubon statue and is accessible from the parking lot. Groups do not need to enter the Zoo to use this meeting space. Internet access is available for an extra fee. 
    Non-profit rates:
    $300 (8 am-5 pm), $200 (after 5 PM). 
    For-profit rates:
     $400 (8 am-5 pm), $350 (after 5 pm).

     

  • Dominion Multi-Purpose Room
    and Auditorium

    The Dominion multi-purpose room can accommodate a group of up to 65 people.  5 tables and  numerous chairs are available and can be moved to fit your meeting. The Dominion auditorium is also available to rent as a separate meeting space or in conjunction with the multi-purpose room. The auditorium has seating for up to 100 people with a large screen and working microphone. 
  • Non-profit rates: $200 (8 am-5 pm), $175 (after 5 PM). 
    For-profit rates: $350 (8 am-5 pm), $300 (after 5 pm).
     

     

     
  • Dominion Lawn
    Dominion lawn can accomodate 100 people. It has a separate entrance to the right of the Zoo admittance gates.
    Non-profit rates: $200 (8 am-5 pm), $175 (after 5 pm). 
    For-profit rates: $350 (8 am-5 pm), $300 (after 5 pm).

     

     
  • Nims Outdoor Classroom
    The outdoor classroom is a great spot for a laid back meeting or a retreat. The classroom can accomodate 60 people.
    Non-profit rates:
    $200 (8 am-5 pm), $175 (after 5 pm). 
    For-profit rates: 
    $350 (8 am-5 pm), $300 (after 5 pm).
