Learning Ocean Science through Ocean Exploration Part 1 of 2
Learning Ocean Science through Ocean Exploration Curriculum, Part I of II
Saturday, October 2, 2010
8:00 am – 3:30 pm
Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
Distance Learning Lab, 3rd Floor
Professional Development workshop for science teachers grades 6-12 presented by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Ocean Exploration and Research Program (OER).
From bioluminescent corals to deep vent worms, from tropical underwater volcanoes to the Arctic Ocean floor, we know more about the moon than we do about our ocean. Bring the excitement of current ocean science discoveries to your students using Learning Ocean Science through Ocean Exploration curriculum, CD, and the Ocean Explorer Web site. This curriculum was developed by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Office of Ocean Exploration and Research (OER). Learn how to conduct inquiry- and standards-based activities in your classroom that are tied directly to ocean expeditions.
Pre-registration is required to attend and space is limited. A registration deposit of $25.00 is also required, but will be returned upon full-day participation in the workshop. Each participant will receive unique take-home materials, a NOAA Ocean Exploration Certificate of Participation, a continental breakfast, and lunch. A $100 stipend will be available for those who participate in both the Introductory and the Follow-up full-day workshops.
