The Butterfly Garden and Insectarium is buzzing with excitement as we celebrate everything Red, White and Butterflies!

Butterflies in Flight exhibit:

  • Interesting life histories of several butterfly species, life spans, butterfly gardening, butterfly farming in other countries and butterflies vs. moths.
  • Butterfly release and chat at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 4:00pm

Throughout the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium:

  • Scope-on-a-Rope camera—see the gorgeous scales on butterfly wings up close in the Metamorphosis gallery
  • Try a Chocolate Chirp Cookie or a cookie shaped like a butterfly in Bug Appétit (while they last)
  • Bring in your bugs or photos of bugs for identification by Entomology staff in the Field Camp
  • Butterfly sticker giveaways
  • Join the national bee and butterfly brigade and receive Burpee® seeds (while supplies last) to help protect the health of the nation's food security and help bees, birds and butterflies thrive and multiply.
