Macro Photography Class

Macro Photography Class

Join us on July 12, 2014 at Audubon Zoo in New Orleans for a morning of intermediate and advanced instruction focused on everyone’s favorite: Macro Photography!

After a presentation on Audubon Zoo’s smaller invertebrates and vertebrates, as well as their conservation initiatives, professional animal photographer and photography instructor Amy Shutt will instruct you on intermediate and advanced macro photography techniques focused on the anatomy, behaviors and special adaptations of the animals and plants we will be photographing and how to use this information to make compelling detail and macro images. We will also discuss specialized equipment and general techniques for proper macro photography, as well as alternatives to these options.

Amy will also share some of her regular animal photography tips and tricks so you can get the best shots possible. We will then spend our time in a 100% exclusive area of the zoo to photograph, macro-style, an amazing line up of insects, reptiles, amphibians, small mammals, birds, flowers and plants.

To wrap up the class we will take a special behind-the-scenes visit to the reptile department to photograph up-close and personal the endangered blue iguana. While there, we will meet with the keepers and learn more about iguanas and conservation efforts that are in place to help this species.

Come spend the morning with us and learn more about photography, macro photography, and conservation!

Individual critiques of the images taken during this class will follow in an exclusive Macro Zoo Photography Class Flickr group!

The reptile department at Audubon is especially concerned about the Jamaican Iguana, therefore we have decided to donate a portion of the proceeds from this special class to the International Iguana Foundation. Please read more about this amazing organization and their efforts with the Jamaican Iguana.

Please visit Amy Shutt's portfolio and photography workshops sites.
