8th Annual Soul Fest at Audubon Zoo

“Celebrate African American Heritage Audubon Style!”

Join Audubon Zoo for a soulful celebration in honor of African American culture and wellness. The 8th Annual Soul Fest, presented by WellCare and the New Orleans Black McDonald’s Operator’s Association, will be held under Audubon Zoo’s magical oaks on Saturday, March 12, and Sunday, March 13. This unique festival, one of the largest of its kind in New Orleans, features soul food cuisine, live music, one-of-a-kind crafts and a FREE health fair.

Soul Fest promises a diverse musical line up both days at the Zoo’s Capital One Stage including the Thelonious Monk Institute Jazz Band, Clark Knighten with 4x4 and Kermit Ruffins performing Saturday. On Sunday, visitors will enjoy the sounds of Phillip Manual, Gina Brown and headliner Chocolate Milk. (schedule below).

Visitors can check in with wellness representatives, including Crescent City WIC, Healthy Start New Orleans, Tulane HCA and McFarland Institute Baptist Community Ministries, for the latest on healthy lifestyle changes.

Artisans showcase and sell original arts and crafts, such as jewelry, leather goods and more – even diaper covers! Restaurants and caterers tempt taste buds with delectable Creole cuisine and authentic soul food like jambalaya balls, turkey legs with mustard greens, crawfish rice, seafood gumbo, baked chicken and the ever- popular Ooey Gooey Cake.
