Audubon Zoo in New Orleans is open late this summer!

Beginning Monday, May 30, 2011 Audubon Zoo is open until 7pm from
Memorial Day to Labor Day, 2011.

From 4:30 pm – 7 pm each evening (Tuesday through Sunday, and holiday Mondays), visitors experience their favorite Audubon Zoo attractions, including the Endangered Species Carousel, the Swamp Train, Audubon’s Dinosaur Adventure, Discovery Walk animal presentations, Embraceable Zoo, the elephant exhibit and Audubon’s newest and most exciting feature, Cool Zoo, a wild and wet splash park.
All this Zoo fun happens for one price: $8 for members, $10 for general public. Guests arriving from 4:30 pm – 7 pm each day have unlimited access to all the experiences listed above and more during their “Twilight Zoo” adventure.  It’s a great value! The slightly reduced footprint makes it easy to get around and see Audubon Zoo’s most interactive attractions.

Visitors arriving during regular Zoo hours (10 am – 4:30 pm) are welcome to stay all the way through to 7 pm. Purchasing a pay-one-price wristband ($8 members, $10 general public) gives them access to all of Audubon’s additional charge attractions for the entire day.

“Our visitors have been clamoring for evening hours for years,” said Audubon Zoo managing director Larry Rivarde. “Now, for the first time, we are offering this early evening opportunity all summer long. It’s a great way to check out Cool Zoo, which has been wildly popular since we opened it earlier this spring.”

Cool Zoo is near the Endangered Species Carousel. Just look for the dancing water feature behind the elephant fountain. Don’t bother trying to stay dry! With three different splash zones and a special toddler area, Cool Zoo is the perfect ending to a warm summer day in New Orleans. Refreshments available at Snack N’ Splash, Zoofari Café and mobile carts. Don’t worry if you forget your towel – the Cool Zoo gift shop has plenty for sale. Be sure to catch live music by local musicians each Sunday afternoon on the Capital One stage from 5 pm – 6 pm.
