Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium
Celebrates Five Years of Buzzing Success
Saturday, June 8 – Sunday, June 9, 2013
10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

 
(New Orleans, La.) - Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium celebrates five years of buzzing success on Saturday, June 8 through Sunday, June 9.  A favorite to locals and tourists, the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium has become a top attraction engaging all five senses as visitors explore North America’s largest museum devoted to insects and their relatives. 

Executive Audubon Bug Chefs and GW Fins’ Executive Chef Tenney Flynn will go antennae to antennae on Saturday, June 8.  The chefs will be challenged to cook their own arthropod specialties for audience members and a panel of celebrity judges to decide who will be the 2013 Arthropod Top Chef. The Arthropod Throwdownwill take place in Bug Appétit at 1 p.m. Audience members are encouraged to arrive early as space is limited. 

The infestivities will also include beetle races, butterfly dancers, face painting, balloon artists, live bug encounters, and a butterfly release and chat at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. both days.
Visitors are invited to pin their own beetle to keep and will receive a free giveaway (while supplies last) along with insect-shaped cookies! 

All of the special ANT-iversary activities take place Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9 and are included with admission.
