(New Orleans, La.)– ‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring not even a …cricket?  Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium welcomes the whole family to a full day of holiday fun at Jingle Bugs on Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 10am - 5pm.

Jingle Bugsoffers the perfect way to start the holiday season!  Guests join Santa Claus for a Buggy reading of Night Before Christmas in Hall of Fame at 11:30am and 2:30pm.

Metamorphosis Lab features "Pupa Noel" and his sleigh with eight tiny "Beetle-deer" along with staff entomologists teaching guests how various insects survive the chilly holiday weather.  Guests can test their knowledge of "winter bugs" with a Gumdrop Hunt and enter to win a prize.

In Hall of Fame, visitors can have their caricature done, get their face painted with a buggy or holiday design, and meet Santa Claus. 

Guests can also sample some deliciously hoppy holiday treats such as bug nog, peppermint cricket bark, and fruit fly cake throughout the day.

Holiday fun that awaits on Saturday, December 14, from 10am-5pm at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium, 423 Canal Street in New Orleans.  All holiday themed activities are included with general admission or membership.

Reindeer Run & Romp

Where: Canal Street, beginning and ending at the Riverwalk Spanish Plaza
When: Registration 8:00 a.m., Race Start 9:00 a.m.
Calling all kids! The Downtown Development District and Entergy present the annual holiday fun run for kids on Canal Street! Rudolph, Santa and friends will jingle their bells to signal the start of the race. Participants will receive antlers, a race t-shirt and a bag of holiday goodies. After the race, “Romp” around the Riverwalk’s Spanish Plaza and enjoy healthy activities like yoga for kids & parents, pictures with Santa, music, games, crafts and more.
