Members get ready to party like Sea Stars at Audubon Aquarium
Audubon Aquarium of the Americas is throwing a party to thank thousands of its closest friends – members!
SEAlebration, an invitation for 30,000 Audubon Nature Institute member households to peek behind the scenes of their favorite aquarium, is scheduled for August 4, 2010. The event will be held from 5pm to 8pm at Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, located at 1 Canal Street in New Orleans.
SEAlebration visitors will enjoy opportunities not offered during regular public hours, such as sneak peeks from the top of the Caribbean Reef and Gulf of Mexico exhibits. They will be able to talk to divers, meet the penguin keepers, enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at where lunch is made for all the animals and a get chance to meet some of the residents through animal meet and greets.
Since Audubon members know how to ‘bust a move,’ Julio & Cesar and Vieux Carre will all be on-grounds to entertain. There will also be inflatables for the children, face painting by Chris Matthews, airbrush tattoos by Pirate Ink, visits by all the Audubon Nature Institute outreach vehicles, arts and crafts by Lowe’s Home Improvement and Sea Turtle Bingo hosted by the Aquarium education department and much more.
Members will be able to watch The Princess and the Frog for free at the Entergy IMAX Theater.
Hugo the Hornet will be making a special appearance from 6 - 7pm.
Gift shop items and refreshments will be discounted 20%.
While SEAlebration is a free party for Audubon members, it’s easy for anyone to become a member and enjoy the festivities. Just visit www.AudubonInstitute.org or call the Member Line at (504) 861-5105. An Audubon membership pays for itself in just a few visits, as members receive unlimited free admission all year long.
Membership booths will even be open the night of SEAlebration, so guests can sign-up right at the entrance and then go on in and party with the animals.
