And best of all, Moms of all ages get into the Zoo free of charge
on Mother’s Day, May 8, 2011.

“Free admission for all moms on Mother’s Day is an Audubon Zoo tradition going back more than twenty years,” said Audubon Zoo Managing Director Larry Rivarde. “It’s a day full of warmth, as hundreds of families bring Mom to the Zoo for a celebration of togetherness.”

Visitors can purchase a special remembrance for Mom from jewelry makers selling their creations on-site. Delicious dishes available for purchase so Mom doesn’t have to cook on her day.

“Audubon Zoo and Popeyes are long-standing New Orleans traditions,” said Glenn Jacob, president of the Popeyes New Orleans co-op. “Popeyes is proud to show our support for Audubon Nature Institute on this Mother’s Day.

Beginning at 12:30pm, the BRW Motown Show Band entertains the crowd from the Capital One stage at the Zoo.

At 2:30pm, Irma Thomas and the Professionals take the stage in an emotion-filled performance, singing directly to the moms in the audience. Her concert is filled with personal anecdotes, old favorites and hot new hits.
