See You in September!

Audubon Nature Institute New Orleans Has Something for Everyone

August 22, 2011                                                                                                                               New Orleans, LA

From an incredible after-hours party with the fishes to musical retro bugs to wet and wild adventures, Audubon Nature Institute’s attractions in New Orleans refuse to say goodbye to summer! There’s still plenty of fun to be had all the way through September.

September 3
Audubon Insectarium
423 Canal Street, New Orleans

Visitors to the Audubon Insectarium will be welcomed in the lobby by special pinned beetle “look-alikes,” displayed with guitars to look like John, Paul, George and Ringo.  Beetle-themed activities include beetle races, a puppet show by Calliope Puppets, and face painting. “Beetle juice” and chocolate “chirp” cookies will be served in Bug Appétit in addition to the regular menu at the Tiny Termite Café.

Audubon Zoo
6500 Magazine Street, New Orleans

Summer’s not over yet – especially when the temperature doesn’t exactly feel like fall. Audubon Zoo’s enormously popular new splash park, Cool Zoo, will be up and running throughout the month. $5 in addition to regular Zoo admission; $4 for members.

Entergy IMAX ©Theatre
1 Canal Street

What a wild way to spend a few hours! Entergy IMAX© Theatre right next to the Aquarium has two new films beginning September 2. Lions 3D – Roar of the Kalahari tells the story of lions living near an African water hole teeming with wildlife.  Transformers 3 in 3D is set three years after the events of the last film, as the Autobots discover a hidden alien technology in possession of humans. Check Audubon’s website for show times.

September 16 - 8pm
Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
1 Canal Street

An amazing, casual after hours party to benefit turtle rehab at Audubon Aquarium features delightfully affordable tickets, live music and a breathtaking array of special brews and bites. Tickets begin at $35 and can be purchased at the website.
