There is something so special about Whitney Zoo-To-Do, when everyone dresses up for an elegant evening under the stars in the most romantic setting in New Orleans – Audubon Zoo after dark. Proceeds from this year’s fundraiser will help underwrite new expanded evening hours at the Zoo this summer.
Sponsored by Whitney Bank, Whitney Zoo-To-Do defines what it means to party in New Orleans. Delightfully unique premium cocktails and tasty food from the best-known restaurants in town are served amid dancing lights under ancient oaks and starry skies. Lavish decorations transform Audubon Zoo into a glowing wonderland where anything is possible.
“Once you’ve experienced Whitney Zoo-To-Do, you know it’s one event you always want to attend,” said 2011 Zoo-To-Do chairman Mary Johnson. “If you’ve never been, consider joining us this year. We would love to see you, and I guarantee you will always remember it.”
Music fills the air all night long as partygoers kick back – this year, to the sounds of The Four Tops, along with The Mixed Nuts, The Algiers Brass Band and Banu Gibson.
Feeling fortunate? You don’t have to wait to take a chance on Whitney Zoo-To-Do’s exciting Luxury Vehicle Raffle – a 2011 Lexus ES350 valued at $38,148, generously donated by Lexus of New Orleans. Tickets are on sale now; they are $100 each, and only 1,000 will be sold. While the winner will be announced from the stage at Whitney Zoo-To-Do, the winner need not be present to play or win. The Zoo-To-Do silent auction on the night of the event features offers exotic vacations, collectables for the sports enthusiast, stunning jewelry, one-of-a-kind artwork, and so much more.
Since 1972, Zoo-To-Do has set the standard for philanthropic fundraisers, drawing attention from zoos across the country and raising millions of dollars through the years to support the mission of Audubon Nature Institute.
Sponsor and patron level tickets with early admittance are available. Gala ticketholders are admitted at 8pm. Early Bird tickets begin at $130 each for Audubon members; $85 for Young Audubon members. The Early Bird Special ends at 5pm on April 1, 2011, when ticket prices will begin at $155 for Audubon members.
For the younger set, Zoo-To-Do for Kids presented by Humana happens a week earlier, on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Zoo. It’s a dream party for the little ones with all their favorites – hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, inflatables and prizes. Radio Disney will keep children on the dance floor all evening. Chaired by Anne Villere, the 2011 Zoo-To-Do for Kids features “spring casual” attire and is certain to be enjoyed by kids and parents alike.
