Welcomes New Sea Lion Pup
Zoey the Sea Lion Lion Now on Exhibit
(New Orleans, La.) – Audubon Zoo is thrilled to announce the newest addition to the Audubon family, Zoey the Sea Lion Pup. Zoey was born on June 15, 2012 at Utica Zoo in New York.
Zoey arrived in mid-December an she is now on exhibit with Audubon's two longtime sea lions, Sushi, who is 27, and Lilli, who is 26. They are sisters. Sushi and Lilli both weigh about 200 pounds and Zoey weighs 92 pounds.
Sea lions are popular zoo residents. Intelligent and engaging, they tell an important story about how humans and wildlife must co-exist. They are native to the waters off the California coast.
Audubon Zoo is located at 6500 Magazine Street in New Orleans. Admission is $17.50 for adults, $12 for children 2-12, and $13 for seniors 65+. Audubon Nature Institute members are admitted free of charge. Visit www.auduboninstitute.org/visit/zoo for more information.
