Audubon Zoo
A "Must-see Attraction" – Frommer’s, 2009
Audubon Zoo, located in historic Uptown New Orleans, offers an exotic mix of animals from around the globe, engaging educational programs, hands-on animal encounters and lush gardens. Unique natural habitat exhibits—such as the award-winning Louisiana Swamp and Jaguar Jungle—showcase the relationship between people and nature. Audubon Zoo is often ranked among the country’s best for innovation and entertainment value.
Don’t miss the sea lion and elephant presentations; highly endangered whooping cranes; Amur leopards and orangutans; white tigers Rex and Zulu; and our mysterious white alligators. Grab a bite in the air-conditioned Zoofari Café or Cypress Knee Café, then enjoy a ride on the Swamp Train. The Gottesman Family Endangered Species Carousel and Simulator Ride thrill all ages. Complete your visit with a souvenir from the fabulous Audubon Marketplace gift shop.
Don't forget to check out the Zoo Map before your visit!
Audubon Center for Research of Endangered Species is proud to be mentoring the next generation of conservation scientists through our internship program. College students interested in conservation biology are admitted into a selective internship program where they gain hands-on experience with breeding programs for endangered wildlife.
