Volunteers

Do you love sharing what you know about nature? Audubon needs your help!
We're always looking for friendly people of all ages to help us tell the story of our animals. Audubon's dedicated volunteers at the Zoo, Aquarium, Insectarium and Research Center make our mission possible. Volunteering at an Audubon facility can be a great way to get involved with your community, and have an adventure with memories that last a lifetime.
Audubon Zoo is proud to house and care for a colony of back handed spider monkeys. These social animals tend to live in groups of about 30 animals. When threatened, these animals will “bark,” shake tree limbs, jump up and down, and throw branches. Despite these defenses, spider monkeys are hunted for the pet trade in Central America and are subsequently disappearing in most areas accessible to man.
