The AquaKids program is a year-long volunteer program for 13 and 14 year olds that fosters an appreciation and respect for wildlife, and a lifetime commitment to improving the environment. This program provides on the job training for teens interested in science, education and public relations. Space for this program is limited and AquaKids are selected through an application and interview process. Applications are accepted January 1 - March 31. There is a fee for the program.

The Aquarium is a proud participant in the Species Survival Plan for the African penguin, Spheniscus demersus. Through captive breeding, monitored by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, Audubon ensures that this species of penguin will survive for future generations to love and treasure. Come visit “Endymion,” the newest member of Audubon’s penguin colony that hatched in February 2009.
