AquaKids

The AquaKids program is a year-long volunteer program for 13 and 14 year olds that fosters an appreciation and respect for wildlife, and a lifetime commitment to improving the environment. This program provides on the job training for teens interested in science, education and public relations. Space for this program is limited and AquaKids are selected through an application and interview process. Applications are accepted January 1 - March 31.  There is a fee for the program.

Request an application to become a volunteer today!  Questions?  Contact Us.

Please note the application deadline for this year was March 31, and we are no longer taking applications for this year. The application process for the 2010-2011 school year begins January 1, 2011.

Whooping Cranes

Whooping cranes are the most endangered crane in the world; in the 1930’s these cranes disappeared from the state of Louisiana and by 1941 their number in the wild dwindled to a mere 14 birds. See two of these rare canes on your next visit to Audubon Zoo.
