Junior Entomologist

The Junior Entomologist program at Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium introduces students into the world of arthropods. Students will learn teamwork and public speaking while participating in hands-on learning activities through field trips and class time. The Junior Entomologist program requires a one year commitment. Upon completion of the first year, participants will have the opportunity to move up as a second year Junior Entomologist.
The 2012 Junior Entomologist program is open to students entering the 8th-10th grades during the fall of 2012. Applications must be submitted to the volunteer department no later than March 1, 2012. Interviews for applicants with complete applications will take place in March. If accepted to the program the student will be required to attend orientation in May followed by an overnight retreat in June. Summer training will take place the month of July. Junior Entomologists are then required to attend two shifts per month during September - May in addition to any events that will be taking place at the Butterfly Garden and Insectarium.
Requests for applications begin November 1, 2011. Applications will not be mailed until January 1, 2012.
